What is the PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w Power Over Ethernet Injector?

The PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w is an 8-port Gigabit Power Over Ethernet Injector that complies with the 802.3af standard. This device allows network cables to deliver power and data simultaneously over Ethernet, enabling you to connect devices like IP cameras, VoIP phones, and wireless access points without needing additional power sources. Its 48 Volt 60 Watt power supply ensures that your powered devices receive adequate energy for optimal performance.

What are the benefits of using a PoE injector?

Using a PoE injector simplifies network installations by eliminating the need for separate power outlets near each device. It enhances wiring efficiency, reduces installation costs, and offers flexibility in device placement, especially in areas where outlets are limited. This is highly useful for setting up devices like security cameras in outdoor or secluded locations, ensuring they operate continuously without additional wiring.

Is the PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w compatible with all PoE devices?

The PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w is compatible with all PoE devices that adhere to the 802.3af standard. This includes a wide range of devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones, and Wi-Fi access points. Just ensure that the connected devices do not exceed the injector's total power output, which is 60 Watts, to maintain performance and prevent any issues.

How do I install the PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w injector?

Installing the PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w injector is straightforward. Simply connect the injector to your router using a standard Ethernet cable, and then connect your PoE devices to the injector ports. Power the injector using the included 48 Volt power supply. This setup allows your PoE devices to receive both power and data through the same Ethernet cable, creating a clean and efficient installation.

What is the maximum distance for powering devices with this injector?

The maximum distance for powering devices with the PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w injector is up to 100 meters (328 feet) using standard Ethernet cables (Cat5e or better). This makes it highly effective for installations in larger spaces or across multiple rooms, allowing flexibility in where devices can be placed while maintaining reliable power and data transmission.

Can I stack multiple PoE injectors for more devices?

Yes, you can stack multiple PoE injectors to support more devices. Simply connect additional injectors in series, linking them to your router and your devices. This is particularly useful in expanding network capabilities in larger setups or businesses where many PoE devices are required without compromising the performance of each device.

What should I do if my PoE devices are not receiving power?

If your PoE devices are not receiving power, start by checking all connections, ensuring that cables are securely plugged in. Verify that the injector is powered on and functioning properly. If all seems well, ensure the connected devices are compliant with the 802.3af standard, as this injector specifically powers devices that meet this requirement. Testing with different cables or devices can also help isolate any issues.

What types of devices can benefit most from using the PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w?

Devices like IP cameras, VoIP phones, and wireless access points benefit significantly from the PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w injector. By eliminating the need for separate power sources, it encourages easier installations in places like offices, homes, and outdoor environments where running power lines would be cumbersome. This makes managing your network more efficient and organized.

Is there a risk of overloading devices connected to the injector?

While the PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w provides a total of 60 Watts, it automatically manages power distribution to prevent overload. However, it’s important to ensure that the total power requirement of connected devices does not exceed this limit. Monitoring power consumption will help ensure device stability and avoid any potential interruptions to device operations.

PoE Texas Switches Editorial Review

The PoE Texas AT-8-48v60w is an eight-port Gigabit power over Ethernet injector that can supply power to cameras up to 328 feet away while passing through data. It has a total power budget of 60 watts and is autonegotiating, meaning you can use it with both 802.3af and 802.3at (if you have a 56 volt power supply). It is compatible with Amcrest cameras that use 802.3af POE, but not with Zmodo cameras. However, PoE Texas offers a multiport PoE injector for Zmodo cameras, the WS-POE-8-ENC with a WS-PS-19v60w power supply. This device only works with the Ubiquiti UniFi AC Lite AP.
