Honest Technology DVD & Blu-Ray Movie Players Editorial Review
The Honestech VHS to DVD conversion software has garnered a mixed reception among users. While it has successfully allowed some customers to transfer their old VHS and HI8 camcorder tapes to DVD digitally, many have encountered significant challenges, primarily related to the software and its compatibility with various equipment. Several reviews highlight the software’s inefficiencies, such as audio delays (1-1.5 seconds) which make it difficult to enjoy the video playback. Some users were frustrated by the lack of clear instructions and mismatches between the physical setup and the provided manuals. In their efforts to resolve these issues, a few customers sought alternative software solutions, like Golden Video or Windows Movie Maker, which reportedly yielded better results in terms of both video and audio quality. Positive experiences were reported by those who received prompt support from the tech department to address specific issues, such as copyright prompts that appeared during transfers. These users found the quality satisfactory once hurdles were cleared, with visuals retaining the original color. Conversely, the experience of using Honestech software has led some customers to describe it as one of the worst they've encountered, pointing out limitations and operational glitches that resulted in computer crashes and functionality loss. Overall, while the hardware component (the USB converter) works as intended, the accompanying software severely detracts from the user experience, leading many to recommend exploring alternative conversion software. **
