The APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU, 9000 Series is a power distribution unit designed for data centers and IT environments, which supports multiple devices and provides centralized power management. This unit features a vertical 0U design that saves space in server racks while offering convenient IEC 309 input, ideal for managing high power loads of up to 32A at 230V. It is especially suited for facilities that require efficient power distribution and monitoring.

What are the key features of the APDU9953 model?

The APDU9953 model boasts several key features, including remote management capabilities, real-time monitoring, and individual outlet control. This allows administrators to efficiently manage power consumption, reboot devices remotely, and prevent overloads. This functionality is critical in mission-critical environments where uptime and control are of utmost importance, making it suitable for large server rooms and telecommunications environments.

How does the vertical 0U design benefit server rack setups?

The vertical 0U design of the APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU allows for optimal use of available rack space. By mounting vertically alongside the rails of the rack, it maximizes capacity without consuming valuable rack units (U). This design is particularly advantageous in dense setups, where space is limited and efficient power management is a priority, allowing for better airflow and cooling solutions.

Can the APC PDU be integrated with existing management tools?

Yes, the APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU can be integrated with various data center management tools. Its compatibility with network management systems allows for seamless monitoring and reporting, enabling IT administrators to track energy usage, identify trends, and optimize power loads across connected devices. This integration supports proactive management, reducing the risk of outages and enhancing overall data center efficiency.

What types of outlets are available on this PDU?

The APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU features multiple outlets, specifically IEC C13 and C19 connections. These are commonly used for connecting standard server equipment and networking devices. The range and type of outlets provided offer flexibility for various devices, ensuring compatibility with essential equipment found in enterprise environments.

How does power monitoring work on the APC PDU?

The power monitoring feature on the APC PDU allows users to track real-time energy consumption and load levels for each outlet. This is essential for preventing overloads, as users can see which devices consume the most power. By providing detailed reports, administrators can make informed decisions on power distribution and invest in energy-efficient equipment based on usage analytics, leading to cost savings and optimized operations.

Is remote management possible with this PDU model?

Yes, the APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU supports remote management through its integrated network interface. This feature enables users to control outlets, monitor power usage, and receive notifications of potential issues from virtually anywhere. This is especially useful for facilities management in large organizations where IT staff need to manage multiple racks without being physically present, ensuring faster response times to power-related incidents.

What kind of environments is this PDU ideal for?

This PDU is ideal for data centers, telecommunications rooms, and server farms, where reliable power distribution is critical. The robust design and high power capacity support a wide range of IT equipment, from servers to networking devices. In high-density environments, where space is at a premium, this PDU offers a compact solution that helps maintain systematic energy management while optimizing available rack space.

Does the APC PDU support surge protection?

The APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU does not inherently include surge protection; however, it is designed to work in conjunction with APC's surge protective devices for comprehensive power management. For environments vulnerable to power fluctuations, coupling this PDU with surge protection equipment is crucial to safeguard critical assets and prevent downtime caused by electrical surges or disturbances.
