What is House of Kolor Catalyst used for?

House of Kolor Catalyst is a specialized hardener designed to enhance the performance and finish of House of Kolor's custom paints and clear coats. By activating the pigments and allowing for better adhesion, it ensures a durable, high-gloss finish. This product is particularly useful for automotive enthusiasts who are seeking a professional-grade painting finish, providing both strength and longevity.

How do I mix House of Kolor Catalyst with paint?

To mix House of Kolor Catalyst with paint, you'll typically follow a ratio recommended by the manufacturer. For most applications, mixing one part catalyst with two parts paint is standard; however, this can vary slightly based on the specific paint type being used. Ensuring a well-mixed solution will lead to better results, particularly in achieving a smooth application with optimal adhesion.

What surfaces can I use House of Kolor Catalyst on?

House of Kolor Catalyst is primarily intended for use on automotive surfaces, including metal, plastic, and fiberglass. It can be used over properly prepared primed surfaces, ensuring a strong bond. It's ideal for professional painters and DIY enthusiasts looking to achieve a stunning finish on their vehicles or custom projects, enhancing both color depth and durability.

Is House of Kolor Catalyst compatible with other paints?

While it may work with other brands, compatibility can vary, so conducting a test on a small area is advisable before full application. Utilizing it as intended, with the recommended paint line, guarantees the best results, both aesthetically and in terms of performance.

Can I use House of Kolor Catalyst in cold weather?

Using House of Kolor Catalyst in cold weather can affect the curing process and overall finish. Ideally, it should be applied in temperatures above 60°F for optimal results. If you must paint in cooler temperatures, it can help to warm your workspace or the components to achieve a consistent mixture and ensure better curing during the application process.

However, for a complete cure and robust finish, allowing additional time is recommended before using the painted item to ensure longevity and durability.

Can I use House of Kolor Catalyst for indoor projects?

While House of Kolor Catalyst can be used for indoor projects, it's essential to ensure adequate ventilation as the fumes can be strong. For indoor use, such as detailing furniture or other small crafts, consider working in a well-ventilated space to minimize inhalation and ensure a comfortable working environment while achieving professional-quality finishes.
