Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question: What features does the Fluke 114 Electrical TRMS Multimeter offer?

Answer: The Fluke 114 offers True RMS measurements, which provide accurate readings for both AC and DC currents. Additionally, it features a voltmeter, continuity tester, resistance measurement, and capacitance measurement. This makes it versatile for troubleshooting electrical issues, performing maintenance on equipment, or conducting educational experiments in electronics. The compact design and easy-to-read display ensure that it can be used effectively in a variety of settings, whether you're a professional electrician or a hobbyist.
  • Question: How does the NIST-Traceable Calibration Certificate enhance the Fluke 114 Multimeter's credibility?

Answer: A NIST-Traceable Calibration Certificate guarantees that your Fluke 114 has been calibrated against standards set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This means the readings you obtain are highly reliable and accurate, essential for professional and regulatory compliance. Using a multimeter with such certification ensures that your measurements are trusted in critical applications such as electrical inspections, industrial maintenance, or research projects, where accuracy is paramount.
  • Question: Can the Fluke 114 handle basic troubleshooting tasks?

Answer: Yes, the Fluke 114 is designed specifically for troubleshooting electrical issues, making it ideal for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. Its functionality allows users to check voltage, measure resistance, and test continuity. For instance, if you're unsure if an outlet is working, you can use the multimeter to test voltage easily, allowing rapid identification of wiring issues or faulty components in circuits without extensive technical knowledge.
  • Question: What is the significance of True RMS in the Fluke 114 Multimeter?

Answer: True RMS (Root Mean Square) technology enables the Fluke 114 to provide accurate readings of non-linear or distorted waveforms commonly found in electrical systems. Unlike average responding meters, True RMS meters like the Fluke 114 ensure precision, especially in complex circuits. This is particularly useful in scenarios such as diagnosing variable speed drives or electronic devices where the voltage and current may not follow a sinusoidal shape, ensuring effective troubleshooting and monitoring.
  • Question: Is the Fluke 114 suitable for use in confined spaces?

Answer: Absolutely. The Fluke 114 has a compact design that allows it to fit into tight areas while still providing high functionality. Its non-contact voltage detection helps in identifying live wires without needing to touch the bare conductors, making it perfect for inspecting electrical panels or junction boxes. Professionals can comfortably use it in residential or commercial settings, ensuring safety and efficiency when working in restricted spaces.
  • Question: What safety features does the Fluke 114 include?

Answer: The Fluke 114 is equipped with several safety features, including CAT III 600V safety rating and a built-in fuse, which protects the device from overload damage. This makes it suitable for electrical work in industrial environments where voltage spikes can occur. Additionally, the multimeter has a low battery indicator to prevent incorrect readings due to power loss. Such features ensure that you can conduct electrical measurements safely and confidently.
  • Question: Can I use the Fluke 114 in a noisy electrical environment?

Answer: Yes, the Fluke 114 is designed to perform well in electrically noisy environments. Its True RMS capability effectively captures accurate readings even when there is electrical interference. This makes it suitable for environments such as factories or workshops where heavy machinery may cause disturbances, allowing technicians to diagnose issues in their equipment without losing accuracy due to noise.
  • Question: What types of measurements can I perform with the Fluke 114?

Answer: With the Fluke 114, you can perform a variety of measurements including AC and DC voltage, resistance, continuity, and capacitance. This versatility allows it to be used for numerous applications, from checking the functionality of a circuit board to measuring the resistance of electrical components in a repair setting. Whether you're troubleshooting appliances at home or maintaining industrial equipment, the Fluke 114 can meet diverse measurement needs efficiently.
  • Question: How do I ensure that my Fluke 114 remains accurate over time?

Answer: To ensure ongoing accuracy of your Fluke 114, it is recommended to regularly calibrate the device according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Using a NIST-Traceable Calibration Certificate assures that your multimeter's precision aligns with recognized standards. Regular checks become essential for professionals working in critical fields where measurement accuracy directly impacts safety and compliance. Keeping your multimeter calibrated helps maintain its reliability in all applications.

Fluke Multi Testers Editorial Review

The Fluke 114 Electricians Multimeter is a well-built and rugged tool, which is fast at measuring continuity and has low input impedance. It measures LoZ, AC and DC Volts and Milivolts and Ohms but doesn't measure mA or current, which can be measured by other Fluke models that require the circuit to break. The product has an automatic shut-off feature, is designed in the USA, but it is made in Singapore or China. The meter is overpriced but excellent and reliable. Some users did not receive calibration certification, and one user experienced poor quality and received a possibly refurbished meter.
