Rio Grande Games Board Games Editorial Review
The reception of the Underwater Cities: New Discoveries Expansion has been largely positive. Reviewers highlight the deluxe player boards, which eliminate piece movement, and the additional cards and special features, such as the museum board. These additions are noted as enhancing the gameplay and providing more options for scoring and resource management. The expansion is particularly recommended for those who already enjoy the base game. Some reviewers express satisfaction with the upgraded player boards, appreciating the improved quality and ease of use. However, a few comment on the dent on the box upon delivery. The game is compared favorably to Terraforming Mars, with players enjoying the euro-style worker placement and player board development with hand management. It is noted that the solo win condition may be too high at 125 points compared to the original 100-point target.
