According to one customer, the protection button is actually used to simulate a safe ohm load to the amplifier when connecting multiple speakers of certain ohm ratings in series or parallel, to prevent the amplifier from failing. The unit handles 100Watts per Channel w/ Speaker Systems That Have Minimum Impedance of 8 Ohms. However, one customer reported the rear connections to be made poorly as they come apart easily causing wires to fall out. Another customer reported that the terminal connections were not effective as they had less exposed wire than necessary and could not grip fully. The Pyle PSS4 appears to be of good quality, with a metal housing and positive pushbutton switches, but the plastic lever clips that hold the speaker wire seem to be flimsy and can come out of the case. Overall, the product works as advertised and is relatively easy to install.
