Answer: 14mm would be large enough to need a lot of force fitting with a hammer or other tool. I would use 10mm for ¼" plywood. -

Is the grip range .039"-.23" or 1-4mm? The .23" would be more like 6mm...
Answer: The thickness of the part you attach this to can be 1.5mm which will give minimal grip to 5mm which will again give minimal grip as the grippers will fold into the channel and loose most of their ability to grip. My application was 3.5 - 4mm thick and it has worked perfect for several years. Make sure the surface is scuffed a bit and clean and DO NOT use adhesive.
